The Making of Burial
Lyrics
Burial
You’re the one, gave the order. Steal light, right from under. Neon Fields are no longer. Had to prove they weren’t from above. Our place of worship, you couldn’t leave it alone. Now you deserve this. This is your final moment. Out of sight, out of mind, we’ll leave you. It’s our calling to remove you.
Bury you, under fields that lost their glow. You had no right. Hold your tongue, we’re not listening. Every word digs a deeper hole. Brought us together, for you to tear it apart. And now you’ll never see another day. Out of sight, out of mind, we’ll leave you. Only we’ll know where you are.
Only we’ll know where you are. Who do you think that you are? They’ll never find where you are. No one will know where you are.
Feeling your time is disappearing. Now silence all your pleading. Now your life is over, say goodbye to sunlight and atone for all your lies.
You can rest when it’s done, now pick up the spade. You’ll lay down in the bed you’ve made. This isn’t a game. Thanks to you our world will never be the same. Push the steel through the earth. Die beneath what you cursed. Rotting alone, may your soul never rest.
You’re the fools who extinguished the fire. A radiant light that once brought us together. All our lives simply fell into darkness. You raped the world of a hope that we needed. So you want to behave like a termite? Then dig your grave just a little bit deeper. You will pay now for this desecration. We’ll fill the holes with the creatures who made them.

Overall, ‘Light Them Up’ is pure excitement and energy. There’s no hectic feel present, it’s as if the track knows exactly what it is doing. As if it all was said and done long before the track even started.
I really like this ever-knowing wisdom connected to the tune. Circling around the theme of a paranoid schizophrenic who’s convinced that he is being watched and hunted, the track manages to transmit this exact uncomfortable feel, but with an overwhelming pressurized undertone.

Neon Fields light the touch paper in standout debut release. ‘Light them up’ is the standout debut from South West UK band Neon Fields. It is 6 minutes 40 seconds in length but unlike some Netflix series, at no point does this seem overstretched or lack periods of quality. It feels like the band take us on an epic journey from start to finish. It doesn’t follow the scripted patterned format that you see in many songs and it holds intensity throughout, evoking anticipation in the masses.

Tonight’s highlight goes to “Bleak”, the third single from Brits Neon Fields. The vocals was what most caught my attention in “Bleak”. Ed Barrett is overwhelming in his interpretation, which shines brightly and breaks through the darkest and most doomed environment, like a ray of hope. Everything is delivered with emotion, and above all, is entirely real. The ever overlapping instrumental accompanies all of this, growing and decreasing in intensity at the right times.
